Varichon & Clerc’s Privilège Blanc de Blancs Brut is a Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wine that is under pressure. It should always be well chilled before opening (35°-40° F). Always exercise caution when opening a bottle of sparkling wine. Never use a corkscrew. Point the bottle away from people and objects. Use a clean towel or cloth to firmly grip the bottle. Gently remove the wire stopper while firmly holding the cork in place. Then with thumb and forefinger, remove the cork slowly from the bottle. Do not let the cork fly. Enjoy!
Established in 1901 in Seyssel in the alpine region of Savoie between Lyon and Geneva, Varichon & Clerc has been a leader in the production of high quality Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wines since its inception. Méthode Traditionnelle is the same painstaking method used in Champagne, by which the wine is fermented and aged in bottle for 12-15 months before disgorgement and dosage to create tiny bubbles, the magic of Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wine.
Varichon & Clerc specializes in fashioning sparkling wines from historical French grape varieties, including Savoie’s highly prized Jacquère varietal, a grape known for its mouthwatering, ethereal charm. Varichon & Clerc fashions a number of fine blends and single varietal sparkling wines. However, Varichon & Clerc’s Privilège Blanc de Blancs Brut serves as its most renowned offering.
